I will dominate 'serious boxer' Paul - Joshua
The British boxer prepares to battle Jake Paul in an eight-round contest which will be broadcast in real-time on the streaming platform.
Briton Anthony Joshua stated he will "overwhelm entirely" the American and "break" his opponent as the pair confronted each other to promote next month's boxing match.
Ex twice unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua faces YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul - in what is, on paper, a mammoth disparity - at Miami's arena on 19 December.
Fighter's Mindset
"I will break his face and break his body up. My goal is to show my superiority," Joshua, 35, said.
"I will dominate him completely. That's a fighter's mentality.
"I intend to genuinely try to hurt him. That's what I want to do."
Respectful Exchange
In spite of these statements, a calm Joshua and internet personality Jake Paul - normally known for his showmanship - exchanged pleasantries and remained civil with each other.
Paul rather attacked former Joshua rival Francis Ngannou and labeled him "not serious" after Ngannou turned down a bout proposal.
Targeting Tyson Fury
Joshua, meanwhile, took aim at UK rival Tyson Fury - and rejected a £1m bet 'The Gypsy King' says he will place on a Paul victory.
"Jake Paul is better than Fury - he showed up," Joshua stated.
"I give him credit for that."
Legitimate Opponent
In spite of saying he intends to damage his opponent, Joshua declined to speak negatively about his rival's fighting skills.
"Jake is a credible opponent," he remarked.
Paul's Background
Paul - who originally gained popularity on the Disney Channel - has primarily boxed MMA fighters or faded names since turning professional.
He was defeated by British fighter Fury in 2023.
Commercial Success
Nevertheless, the relative newcomer continues to be one of boxing's biggest commercial attractions, frequently receiving substantial paydays.
Prediction and Belief
The 28 year old predicted a KO victory in round four or five and stated he would stop the long-awaited Joshua–Fury fight, which is apparently in the works for two years from now.
"It will be me versus Tyson Fury next year," Paul declared.
Physical Disparity
As Joshua and Paul met for the traditional face-off, with their physical disparity on show, it drove home just how surprising this whole event is - and how amazing it is that the fight is really going ahead.
