The European Union might “respond swiftly and decisively” against what it deems “unjustified” travel bans imposed by the United States against five Europeans working on fighting digital hatred and misinformation, an EU official stated.
European Leaders Condemn US Move as ‘Intimidation’
European leaders including Emmanuel Macron accused Washington of “bullying and threats”, following the travel bans targeted individuals that were at the heart of campaigns to enact legislation regulating US-based technology firms.
“For too long, ideologues in Europe have led organised efforts to coerce US companies to suppress American viewpoints they oppose,” wrote a senior US official online. “The current administration will no longer tolerate these egregious acts of censorship beyond its borders.”

Nations including Germany, Spain, and the UK, alongside numerous EU representatives joined the French president in criticizing the move.
The bans were enacted on Tuesday on an ex-European commissioner involved in crafting the bloc’s Digital Services Act (DSA), as well as four activists fighting false information, from two in Germany and two in the UK.
